Jack Brady told us about what happened on the expedition while we were in Cuncudgerie

The Expedition headed from New York to London and picked up Sir Aubrey Penhew before heading to Cairo. There Anastasia left them and Jack was relieved for a bit. But everyone started acting pretty crazy. Roger Carlyle snuck out one night and climbed the Red Pyramid where he broke what he called a protection spell in an explosion. Two days later, the main folks of the Expedition - Roger, Penhew, Huston, and Patty - gave everyone the slip and ducked into the Red Pyramid where they disappeared for the entire night. They came back talking about seeing the "Real Egypt." They then had a demonstration of their power out in the desert where they summoned weird creatures to eat a gathered bunch of porters. Jack began drinking heavily after that and thinking of ways to get Roger away from all of this. Sir Aubrey Penhew announced that the Expedition was headed to Kenya next. He seemed to be getting younger and more lively every week. Patty was sick a lot. Roger and Huston seemed drunk on their own power. After arriving in Nairobi Kenya, Penhew started making plans for heading out into the mountains, and Jack took the opportunity to drug Roger and escape with him and the Expedition's cash box. Jack assumes that, like in Egypt, the main expedition members summoned something to kill their porters, and that the press just assumed everyone was dead.

Jack also tells us that during Roger's ravings, he heard that Nyarlathotep gave everyone their dreams - Roger thought his life was a failure and wanted to be successful. Huston wanted to be a god, Patty's dream was to have a baby after she lost Raoul's, and Penhew wanted to be Pharaoh - a ruler of mankind.
