Mission 4
A few days later we are having dinner in the Friona's Teakettle when our table is approached by a half-orc wearing a grimace like a smile. He says under his breath "Act natural. I'm here from the Emerald Enclave and my name is Buhrell Caah. An associate of ours says a devastating artifact was brought into the Teakettle tonight and I need you to split up and find out who has it without letting them know because the person might set it off if they know we know they have it."
We look around and see 6 tables without regulars. A wild elf, 2 human women, an older human man and a dwarven woman, a half elf man, a pale scaled dragonborn woman, and 3 halflings. We split up and begin talking to them.
The dragonborn tells Saronge that her is Halda and that she's in town visiting family, but when pressed about details she caves and says that her name is really Minitha and she's actually here to search the mountains to the north for treasure.
The half elf man tells Shadow that his name Schuler and that he's a food critic for the Phlan Gazetteer. He complains about the safflower taste in the soup.
The three halflings say they are Tane, Ton, Tine and part of a traveling acrobatics show. Vantasner tries to get them to prove it, but they end up faking him out with a smoke bomb and steal 10 gold.
Saronge goes to speak to the dwarven woman and the older human man but they immediately put off that this is a private conversation. She tries to persuade them to let her join, maybe they are in need of her help as an adventurer. The man says "maybe another time" and goes to leave but his bag catches on the leg of the table and a dagger tumbles out. He grabs for it, but a burst of electricity comes out of it and starts jolting him.
The electricity keeps bouncing around, but we figure out it is drawn to safflowers and getting enough of it away that the ball of electricity winks out.
Buhrell Caah thanks us for our help and gives us 150g and a potion of healing. He takes the cursed dagger off our hands and says that the Emerald Enclave will take care of it.
