Mission 2

A lady falls into Friona's Teakettle the next morning crying about her family being dragged away from her farm by goblins.

The town guards say it's out of their jurisdiction, but they hand us an IOU for 50 gold to take care of it.

We follow the woman and her wagon back to her farm and once there we follow tracks to a cave, but we aren't able to sneak up to the cave entrance.

Still, we hear a voice in Common say "Tell Gorrok there will be gifts and coin for any dragon artifacts they find." and the Goblin says that one raiding party has returned with prisoners, but the other 2 are still out.

Shadow sneaks in, but the rest of us aren't so lucky and they know we are here. Vantasner sprints into the cave and we all fight goblins and wolves.

In the next room we find a bugbear, who calls himself Gorrok as he attacks us the Fatwater Goblin Tribe. Again the fight is hard and dangerous, but we emerge victorious, if barely.

The captured people in cages are thankful for the rescue. Most of them are related to the woman who hired us in Phlan, but there is a dark stranger who introduces himself as Chaab. He says he is part of the Zhentarim and they are investigating a black dragon that was lairing in the area and making deals with humans. Chaab says he found the dragon dead, but the adventures that killed it also perished. The dragons horde seems to have vanished and when Chaab arrived he found goblins had moved in and have been harvesting the body parts from the black dragon. Unfortunately before he could get away he was captured and locked in here.

Thankful for his rescue, Chaab gives us gems worth 100g and a potion of climbing and shows us the shield that Gorrok was wearing is actually a black dragon scale that can be used as a trophy shield. We thank him and he heads back to Phlan on his own while we escort the rest of the people back to their farm. The woman is thrilled to see her family returning and thanks us profusely with a home cooked meal.

Shadow tries to forge the promissory note the guards gave us, but fails, so we cover it in smeared goblin blood so we can at least get the promised 50g.. reluctantly.
