Event:4713/01/09 Cleansing Candlemere
We cross the lake to the island, buff up with See Invisibility, Fly, and Communal Resist Energy, fly over the sickening briers, and engage the Will-o’-Wisps in the ruined tower. Since we prepared this time, we defeated the wisps. When we defeat the big blue ones, a vortex of energy blasts up and then back into the earth, and then the black rose bud and bush crumbles.
Onica checks out the ruins while we drive the remaining wisps off. Investigating the ruins, we find markings dating back to the Age of Destiny. Using Comprehend Languages, Kessler reads them, frightening him (Grikk grabs him and Kessler drinks a potion of Remove Fear to get over it). The large will-o'-wisp corpses radiate conjuration / transmutation magic. Grikk can't identify what they are though, so we toss them in the bag of holding. We also find a wickedly curved magical dagger by the entrance (+1 human-bane dagger, but requires killing a human with a coup-de-grace, also grants negative levels when we touch it).
We have explored the hex. Though the wisps have been dealt with, the unsettling feeling remains. We rest on the far shore.
