Dues for the Dead

Having met up with a half-drow Neville the Grey Legion decides that this is definitely something up our alley as "reward is commensurate with risk."

Less than a year ago, Atavar Daroen, Lord Protector of the city of Phlan, was killed in a construction accident at Valhavo Castle. Daroen was not well liked and left no heirs so the Knight Commander of the Black Fist, Ector Braumms, was declared Lord Regent. The Black Fist runs the city and swiftly dispenses punishments, but rarely justice. The city of Phlan has been in decline since Braumms took control.

The Merchant guilds and the Welcomers, a criminal organization, are basically fighting for control with the Black Fist. Few of them can work together for any length of time for the betterment of Phlan.

Meet Drollo and Fedja working in the Graveyard. They point us to a small chapel nearby where

Cassyt - a female half-elf - joins us as a guide and we descend into the catacombs.

From the 'Banquet Hall' we descend into the deeper levels. It is dark in the necropolis there, but we can hear scraping sounds. Moving up we find several ghouls feasting on bones and take them out before heading towards the deeper catacombs.

We find the burial chamber of a rich, eccentric noble and set off a trap, we leave that room and continue on.

We come across a place where the Welcomers broke in and are being menaced by some zombies. We reluctantly rescue them and shoo them out of the catacombs, but minus their ill gotten gains.

Continuing on we find some more zombies, kobolds, and we interrupt a Red Wizard of Thay who says "You'll never stop the cultists" before vanishing inside a teleportation circle.

A cultist joins in and

find good maps of the catacombs, including a hidden tunnel that we can't find though it is marked on the map with an arrow labeled "Pool".
