History

Alister's father, Sir Bartholemew Trimble went out to the American West as part of the Prairie Fever that was occurring from 1830-1890. Third son of the Duke of Connaught and Strathearn his attraction to the daughter of Joseph "Diamond Joe" Reynolds was encouraged by his father (who saw the Reynolds fortunes as something to assist his holdings 'in the black'.)

His mother, Laura Reynolds was beautiful, but prairie tough 'American Lady' with not only the good name her father provided but a smart, sassy wit that attracted many to her parlor. As the Prairie Fever died out due to laws being put in place that prevented British purchase of land, Bartholomew stayed on to assist his father-in-law with the management of the Congress Mine (largest gold mine in Arizona at the time.) Alister was born on Christmas Day in 1890. His grandfather was able to play with the baby for only a few months before dying in February 1891 of pneumonia.

During the Great War Bartholomew's two brothers were killed in the Battle of the Somme. Now the heir for the responsibilities of his title, and the income that his wife brought with him Alister's father left America and its slight British resentment. Returning home to Britain and bringing his new wife and child with him, he took the reins of the Duchy of Connaught and Strathearn as was fitting his position.

Upon her father-in-law's death in 1900 the now Duchess Laura Trimble had spent ten years in England, learning the ways of the peerage and while never being completely received with open arms by the English nobility her council and parlor still had plenty of visits.

Alister, while of dual citizenship grew up as a blue blood in an age where that was becoming a rarity.

Questions

a) Research where King Solomon's Mines are supposed to be. (Carlyle Expedition was near Kenya when it was 'killed'.) Is this near where the mines are?
