Syndra Silvane, The Baldur's Gate merchant & ex-adventurer has summoned the party to visit.
She welcomes us with wine and a raspy voice.
"I'm sure you've heard of the Death's Curse. Unfortunately when I was younger, I was the beneficiary of the miracle of resurrection. I have been slowly wasting away like so many others across the world. But with the fortune I amassed during my adventuring days I have worked with the Harpers to discover the meaning behind this terrible curse."
"We are fairly sure that this affliction is caused by a Necromantic artifact called the Soulmonger. We have also narrowed its location down to Chult, a peninsula far to the south of the Sword Coast. Chult is a rocky location, teaming with jungles, vicious goblins, terrifying reptilian wildlife, and horrifying undead. And yet, it is where we need to go to get done what has to be done."
"I have traveled to Chult a number of times, specifically to the port city of Nyanzaru and have the ability to teleport us directly there if you agree to search for the Soulmonger and stop its terrible curse. I am friends with one of the powerful merchants of the city, Prince Wakanga Wytamou and will be staying with him as I am too weak to travel much."
Why would you want inexperienced adventurers like us?
"Well, we have sent more powerful folks, but they have all disappeared. Perhaps succumbing to Death's Curse themselves. So with the Harper's assistance, we found people that have not ever been resurrected but that feel the sting of Death's Curse all the same. Yes, yes, I know about your ... relationships ... with those afflicted by Death's Curse. We are hoping that will spur you to do your best and your inexperience may bring a fresh view to this problem."
"As for a reward, besides saving your special person, I will be sure that you will get a rare or uncommon magic item of your choice if you are successful. I will leave you for a few moments to decide. Though time is precious to me, I will not force you to join this hunt. When I return, I expect an answer and if you chose to join me in heading to Chult today, I will advance you each 50 gold pieces to spend in Port Nyanzaru."
She leaves the room and we all look at each other before deciding we have no choice if we want to save our friends.
